Living Lavish in Lithuania

Trakai, Lithuania

The first week in Lithuania, we spent with my mom's side of the family. They have a couple of houses on an acre of land in the countryside. It's honestly my favorite place in the world. It's always so calm there and you're surrounded by nature. It just makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. I could live here for the rest of my life and be happy. They live at the top of a hill and have a garden plus a bee farm at the base of it. On top of that, they're surrounded by lakes, fields and forests. What more could you ask for.

I got to celebrate my birthday here and it was the best day ever. Everyone kept asking me if I wanted to go out to eat or go somewhere, but why leave the most perfect/peaceful place on earth? I told everyone I just want to chillax and lay all day for my birthday. In the morning I woke up to a bunch of presents on the table. Most of it was chocolate and snacks that I love, which was perfect. There are these chocolate bars that are supposed to be for supplementing iron but I eat it like candy because it's so good (I got 6 of them in one of the presents). After I opened my presents, we ended up harvesting peas and making pea soup. It was delicious of course. Then we helped my grandpa collect some honey. We do this every time we go and it always tastes heavenly. It's also very nostalgic because when we would spend our summers here, there would be days where we would be collecting honey for hours. It was always so fun. I'm pretty much an expert on beekeeping now. For dinner we had some meat patties with baked potatoes and then some cake for dessert. Overall, I loved this year's birthday. It was exactly what I needed.

I know this is technically not Lithuania, but it is to me. It's right on the border and we would spend our summers here so in my head it's still part of my country. We were with my dad's side of the family this week. They own this beach house that's from the 1800's and is technically being protected by the government because it's a historical site. I don't have much else to say about the week we spent here other than; it was cold, we didn't go outside much, we celebrated my birthday a second time, and by the end of it I was ready to go home.
